About Me.
Hi! I’m Adrienne De Luna, MLIS, a youth services librarian and library leader passionate about connecting communities, fostering literacy, and designing programs that truly make a difference. With seven years of public library experience and over eighteen years of management in the private sector, I specialize in creating sustainable, community-centered initiatives that maximize impact—even on tight budgets.
At Whiting Public Library, I’ve led youth services programming, outreach, and collections for a municipality of around 5,000 residents. From founding the annual Back to School Bash to developing interactive teen and early learning spaces, my work focuses on building inclusive, accessible, and engaging library experiences. I also create opportunities for youth leadership through programs like the Teen Advisory Board, while expanding equitable access to collections like games, tech, and literacy resources.
I’m deeply committed to mentoring emerging librarians, sharing practical strategies through my professional platform, Youth Services Playbook, and advocating for the library as a vital civic institution. Whether it’s securing grants, building partnerships, or designing programs that delight and inspire, I aim to strengthen libraries as spaces where learning, play, and community intersect.
When I’m not in the library, I’m usually crafting, exploring literacy research, or brainstorming new ways to make library programs fun, engaging, and impactful.
